Who Are We!

Global Citizens means exactly that, global citizen. We believe that no matter where a person comes from and no matter their creed, race, sex, age, gender we are all citizens of this planet we call home.

The voices of this blog are Evellin, Husain, and Melisa.

Evellin:
I am a 20 year old first generation Mexican American. Having Latin roots is a quality I possess and present with pride. My parents immigrated to the United States before having two daughters. Everything my sister and I do is to show our parents that their sacrifice was not in vain and we are forever grateful to them.

Husain:

I am an international student from India who is married to a beautiful woman from Mexico. It can't get more global for us as this truly is an Indo-Pacific relationship. We are both immigrants and so, immigration and its openness is valued in a very high regard in our families.

Melissa:
I’m Melisa Sanchez. I was born in Mexico and I’m 21 years of age. I’m a DACA recipient and I, from my own perspective know how this decision is affecting me, my family, and friends. I came over to the U.S as a 6 months old baby. So, of course I didn’t know nothing at the time as obvious. As a young adult that I am now, I have my own car and a good paying job. I am at risk of going back to a country I don’t even know because of a decision that wasn’t made by me.
